I will never buy a Land Rover Sport again

I write this with a heavy heart - as a one time Land Rover enthusiast. I have had all manner of them - Range Rover Classic (Wonderful), old Series 88" (Bulletproof). Those rose tinted specs were worn when I purchased a Disco S2 TD5. Generally it works OK for an older beast, I batter it and it earns it's keep. It's a fair deal - until the electronics have decided they have had enough. The drivers side window has stopped working - OK so I (stupidly) thought that a fuse or relay had blown. So a cheap fix...... Alas, Land Rover engineers in their wisdom have decided to change the accepted way to wire up a car, thinking an ECU (actually it's called a BCU) would manage the systems. So the locking, alarm, immobiliser, electric windows and a raft of other systems are controlled by this BCU. (Body Control Unit). Ironically the rear electric windows are wired up the old fashioned way so they still work perfectly. SO, after a LOOOONG day spent going to motor factors, telephoning (or trying to) ma

And what do I use to drive around in when it spends weeks in the garage? what is the purpose of owning a car that I cant use, or keeps breaking down? But still, you are implying that the fault could have been caused by “user error”, and only agreeing to the pay the costs as you have not “total security of the statement”, meaning that you have no proof that it was caused by “user error”. I know 100% that the problem was nothing to do with any “user error!”. This fact alone has made us feel that we were to blame and Land Rover was trying to avoid their responsibilities and make us pay.

Land Rover Discovery Clutch park brake issues

fter owning a TDI, and then a TD5 it was only natural for us to move on to a TDV6. On purchase of the car I loved it!. I bought the car Oct,08 and I have had to return the car for problems with the rear release button on the tailgate, fuel cap release kept getting stuck. I have called out Assist 3 times for a park brake fault which also included the screeching symptom. My car is at a LR garage as I type and they called to say that there cld be a clutch problem and they asked me to auth a £250+vat fee for the strip down, they explnd if I need a new clutch and it is not down to wear and tear then all costs covered. Otherwise, I will have to pay for all costs. I have NOT agreed to the charge as I strongly feel that on a 2008 TDV6 with 20k on the clock that it shld not need a new clutch and suggested that it cld be a product fault as opposed to me riding the clutch which I do not do.

Shoddy Land Rover Discovery

From the very outset, I had noticed that the rear window wiper only wiped a percentage of the window within its arc. At the top of its arc, it lost contact with the glass. County Garage replaced the blade. Then it replaced the wiper arm. Finally, it announced that this was in fact a common ailment and that Land Rover had issued a new type of wiper arm, an example of which County Garage duly fitted. It worked! A bit. Pretty soon, the air suspension got fed up with staying inflated all the time and decided to deflate whenever the engine was turned off. We had it fixed and it behaved itself for a while before deciding to deflate again.

Don't believe all the press and hype you read about the LC5 and not for the UK market

This website saved me- don’t believe the critics.... I was faced with a decision 4 years ago - new disco or Landcruiser lC4. Reliability was iffy by word of mouth, friends said that warranty issues were ignored so I went with the Cruiser. So coming round to that time again for a new a new car - and high (or rather top) on the list is the new Disco 4. Surely reliability would be sorted, every article you read in the UK press punts a UK car.... So this site was a godsend - reliability and warranty is obviously still an issue and based on this site, just ordered a new Landcruiser LC 5. Don't believe all the press and hype you read about the LC5 and not for the UK market. With the new suspension et al, it is absolutely a real alternative and seems many "experts" or critics are plugging the disco but completely ignoring the downside in a balanced review. I don’t stress with the family being stranded, late at night coming back into London and I got about 70% residual on

I have received an "Upgrade" to the software but the problem persists. I understand that this fault is commonplace and the fix advised is to have a replacement sender unit. I have also heard that this replacement fix is not the answer as a better software update is essentially what is required. Can you point me in the right direction to fix the problem as I am reluctant to spend a serious amount of money to replace the sender if that will not fix the problem. LR4 decided to slip out of its parked gear with me half in and half out of the car.

On the 18th of Feb, 2014, my LR4 decided to slip out of its parked gear with me half in and half out of the car. I was quite hurt as I was trapped between the car and the door with a snowbank preventing the door from fully opening so I could remove my body from the force of the moving car. When I managed to climb over (yes over!) the moving car door and fall into a snowbank, the door slammed me (my body broke its hinge) and sent me 10-15 ft, parallel to the car on the snow. How it pushed me just the slightest bit I would have landed under the wheels. To date, LR corporate and LR dealer have done nothing to support my claim and demand for an inquiry as to why a stationary car would suddenly move to a new gear with neither person nor object near the gear shift or break pedal to maneuver the gears out of park. i have missed 4 weeks of work and have had to pay, out of pocket for a rental car. Insurance covers very little. I have had three MRI's, 2 dopplers for blood clots and I still have
